Christian Eriksen ended his six and a half year stint at Tottenham Hotspur before the transfer window closed when he completed a move to Inter Milan.

The Dane had just six months left to run on his contract in North London and the club decided to cash in to the value of £16.9million rather than lose him for free in the summer (Sky Sports).

Eriksen’s form had suffered considerably at Spurs over the past year with head coach Jose Mourinho even admitting that the 27-year-old was not playing his best football (AS).

One of the North London faithful’s biggest frustrations was Eriksen’s tendency to waste set piece opportunities, whether that be his failure to beat the opposition’s first man from a corner or fail to hit the target from a free kick.

Eriksen seems to have rekindled his ability to be a threat from a set piece opportunity when he nearly scored a stunning free kick in Inter Milan’s 4-2 win against rivals AC Milan.

He stepped up to the ball at least 35 yards out and unleashed a powerful, dipping right-footed effort which came back off the crossbar.

Here is how some fans reacted to the former Tottenham player’s effort on goal.

  1. I think he knows that he is not indisposable and that this club will not forgive or stand for his lack of work during part of the game and his pulling out like we did.

  2. Well, since Eriksen have the most free kick goals of any Premier league player at all, since joining spurs in 2013, I am rather shocked by the short term memory of my former favorite team Spurs?

#forzaInter It did not go in though, and all that really counts! And yes, only got 2 for spurs last season and half, still give him the champion bragging right of the Premier League of goal kick goals since arriving in 2013?

Get on with the game Spurs…Honour Eriksen for all the great things he did for you, and stop this nonsense of fake belitteling UK…
