Some Spurs fans accuse Eriksen of holding back after stunning free-kick for Inter

Christian Eriksen ended his six and a half year stint at Tottenham Hotspur before the transfer window closed when he completed a move to Inter Milan.

The Dane had just six months left to run on his contract in North London and the club decided to cash in to the value of £16.9million rather than lose him for free in the summer (Sky Sports).

Eriksen’s form had suffered considerably at Spurs over the past year with head coach Jose Mourinho even admitting that the 27-year-old was not playing his best football (AS).

One of the North London faithful’s biggest frustrations was Eriksen’s tendency to waste set piece opportunities, whether that be his failure to beat the opposition’s first man from a corner or fail to hit the target from a free kick.

Eriksen seems to have rekindled his ability to be a threat from a set piece opportunity when he nearly scored a stunning free kick in Inter Milan’s 4-2 win against rivals AC Milan.

He stepped up to the ball at least 35 yards out and unleashed a powerful, dipping right-footed effort which came back off the crossbar.

Here is how some fans reacted to the former Tottenham player’s effort on goal.
