Some Spurs fans on social media have admitted they would take Jesse Lingard in a heartbeat, reacting to reports that the Manchester United star’s agent was in attendance at St James’ Park on Sunday.
It was reported during the summer transfer window that Spurs could try and snap up Lingard on the back of his impressive showing on loan at West Ham in the second half of last season.
Football Insider claimed at the time that the North Londoners were competing with the Hammers for the 28-year-old’s signature but he eventually stayed put at Old Trafford.
The England international has once again struggled to force himself into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s starting eleven this season and reports have indicated that United could cash in on him in January for a fee of around £15m.
Following Newcastle’s Saud-led takeover, the Magpies have also been linked with a move for the midfielder in January.
Sky Sports journalist Pete Graves revealed this week that Lingard’s agent was in attendance at St James’ Park for Tottenham’s 3-2 win over Newcastle United on Sunday.
Reacting to the report, some Spurs fans on social media insisted that they would take the Man Utd star at Tottenham but many felt that he was more likely to join the Magpies.

Anyone saying no is silly, he had a drop during and after the World Cup but he’s had a massive improvement since west ham
He’d be the creativity we need and he’s English so that’s a bonus, aside from the crazy few that will be demanded

He’s not better than Ndombele ofc, but he could offer things when the Frenchman is not in the mood

Spurs Web Opinion
As some fans have pointed out, Lingard’s agent being at St James’ Park likely means that he is in talks with Newcastle rather than Spurs.
I do not see why we would need another number ten in January, given that Ndombele seems to be thriving in the role while Nuno also has Lo Celso and Dele as options to call upon.
