The future of Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld is still unclear, as we inch towards the new Premier League season.
The Belgian defender had his contract extended by an extra year back in early 2019, but this triggered a certain clause in his contract.
Alderweireld would subsequently become available for rival clubs to pinch for just £25m this summer, until the final two weeks of the transfer window (Guardian).
Now a week into July, there have been no reported bids for Toby, although he has been linked as a makeweight in a Tottenham deal for Roma’s Nicolo Zaniolo (Corriere dello Sport).
A number of the Tottenham first team returned to training today, including Eric Dier, Lucas Moura, Harry Winks, Kieran Trippier, and more.
However, some Spurs fans are analysing Alderweireld’s latest private pre-season training video, posted to Instagram, and many are concluding that it is a ‘sales video’.
Some argue it looks like an advert, while others point out that there isn’t a Spurs badge in sight. What do you think?
