Some Spurs fans are divided about reports linking club with Ajax star

According to a report by AS Roma Live, Tottenham Hotspur are among a host of European clubs monitoring Ajax right-back Noussair Mazraoui.

The Moroccan international enjoyed a fabulous campaign last time out as Ajax won the domestic league and cup double while also making it to the semi-final of the Champions League before being eliminated by Spurs.

Last season was the 19-year-old’s breakthrough year at Ajax and he featured in several positions including right back, left back and even defensive midfield.

However, Mazraoui has seen little game time so far this season due to injuries and with the emergence of Sergino Dest, his opportunities at right back have been further limited.

While some Spurs fans were over the moon to be linked with Mazraoui, others questioned the logic of going for a player who is not able to break into the Ajax side at this moment and suggested that someone like Youcef Atal would be a better buy.

Spurs Web Opinion

While I was impressed with Mazraoui’s performances last season, I hesitate to rate him too highly unless he displays the same level of performances for several years in a row. Given the difference in quality between the Premier League and the Eredivisie, I believe this would be a risky signing. I would rather the club go for someone like Aarons who is already proving that he is good enough for this level.
