Some Spurs fans on social media are divided over whether or not it would make sense for Tottenham to pursue a move for Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
Such is the fierceness of the rivalry between Tottenham and Arsenal and that players hardly ever cross the North London divide directly, with William Gallas being the last person to do so over ten years ago.
The Sun claim that Tottenham could try and make a move for Maitland-Niles this summer, with the 22-year-old seemingly out of favour with Mikel Arteta.
The young defender, who graduated through the Arsenal academy has reportedly been put up for sale by the Gunners as they look to raise funds for their transfer targets.
It is claimed that Mikel Arteta’s side are hoping to get £30million for the young defender but may settle for around £20million.
Some Spurs fans insisted that Maitland-Lines could come good under Jose Mourinho and urged the Lilywhites to snap him up.
However, others were understandably unimpressed by the idea of signing an Arsenal playerr.
shouldn't be buying rejects from mid table clubs

apart from the fact that he’s an arsenal player and it would be weird to have him in our squad, i rate him i think it would be a good signing.

I’m 100% taking Maitland-Niles at spurs if he’s available for a decent price

Unpopular opinion but I would take Ainsley Maitland Niles. He is a decent player and helps our home grown quota.

The fact that some so called spurs fan think Maitland-Niles is the answer shows how low their football IQ is.
These are the same fans that despise Jose and claim tanguy's performance is good enough for us.I really don't know what to say to these lot.

Seeing reports of Ainsley Maitland-Niles to Tottenham. I have no idea what to think of this bit of business, but AMN would prove to be an incredible piece of player at Mourinho's disposal. #THFC #Spurs

Lad is a good young player, needs the right coach to build himself up but he will be a very good player for someone.

Talented player who can play in a couple of positions! Likely paper chat though! Don’t know why Arsenal would let him go

Spurs Web Opinion
Jose Mourinho likes working with versatile defenders like Maitland-Niles and he can arguably help fill some gaps in our squad. However, signing the Arsenal man might affect Tanganga’s development as the 21-year-old has shown enough this season to deserve game time next season. I suspect this our rumoured interest in Maitland-Niles is mere paper talk.
