Tottenham head coach Jose Mourinho has handed new signing Steven Bergwijn his debut in the clash against Manchester City today, a decision that has left some Spurs fans extremely excited.
The Spurs head coach has named quite an attacking line up with Giovani Lo Celso and Harry Winks starting in central midfield behind an attacking quartet of Dele Alli, Bergwijn, Son Heung-min and Lucas Moura.
Tottenham have been poor in all their games against the so-called top six teams since Jose Mourinho has taken over with losses against Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool to their name. That is one record the Portuguese coach will want to put right today.
Pep Guardiola’s side come into the game as heavy favourites but with several key players missing, their defence is very much a makeshift one.
Spurs fans will be hoping that they can make their attacking quality count against City’s defence which has struggled to keep clean sheets this season.
Here’s how some Spurs fans reacted to the team news ahead of the game:

That pace up top ?
Must be nice for a Spurs to have four actual options on the bench… https://t.co/NGzxxWvLTb

Would’ve liked to see Ndombele in the middle & Tanganga needs to played at CB because he’s so uncomfortable a LB but Sanchez finally starting & it’s Bergwijn SZN ??

Bergwijn starting but Ndombele on the bench ?

Thoughts:
– IT'S BERGWIJN SZN, feels so weird to actually see a new signing straight away but I love it
– Tanganga at LB will be interesting vs City's width
– Ndombele still not ready?
– Lucas and Dele still starting, can't help but feel like Lamela should be instead— Dan (@thfcdxn) February 2, 2020
Ndombele, play him.

Everything right except Dele is dropping in to the three and Lucas plays in the three. Shame. Ndombele mustn’t be fully fit yet. Hopefully we see him come on. https://t.co/tUD4n5M9du

Tangs should be at CB. Playing him at left back helps absolutely no one but City https://t.co/XTIEfWU7aT

Spurs Web Opinion
This will be a massive test for us as, despite City falling off the pace in the title race, I still believe they along with Liverpool are a class apart from any other team in the league. It will be a massive boost to the players’ confidence if we can get a result from this game.
