Some Spurs fans on social media are divided over whether the club should cut their losses on Tanguy Ndombele after the Frenchman’s disappointing first season in North London.
Ndombele would have been hoping that his fortunes would change after the restart but the midfielder hardly featured, with Jose Mourinho preferring the likes of Moussa Sissoko, Harry Winks, and Giovani Lo Celso over the former Lyon man.
The Guardian claimed on Thursday that Spurs could sell the 23-year-old to Inter Milan for around €50million (£45m) this summer. The possibility of a swap deal involving Milan Skriniar and Ivan Perisic has also been suggested as a possibility.
However, Football.London’s Alasdair Gold and The Evening Standard’s Dan Kilpatrick have both since claimed that the North Londoners have no intention of letting their record signing leave this year.
Some Spurs fans are unsure who to believe and are conflicted on whether the club should keep or sell Ndombele.
While some are convinced he will eventually come good, others begrudgingly admitted they would rather cash in on him and reinvest the money into the squad.
I’d have a lot more sympathy for NDombele if he’d come out and said ‘I will fight for this shirt and prove I should be starting every week. I want to be here’. It looks like that’s far from the reality and his camp are desperately trying to manufacture an exit.

Lets be honest Mourinho hasn’t fancied Ndombele from day one. Ndombele had 3 months of lockdown to sort his shit out and Jose clearly thinks he didn’t. Pre season starts in about 10 days. So it’s very hard to see how much will change ??♂️

If Ndombele leaves & smashes it for Inter, Barca, whoever. Will I look at him and moan that we could have had that? No I'll have been too busy watching whoever our players are, actually play and make a difference. Time for change whether thats him improving/playing or leaving

Can’t lie but as much as I rate Ndombele on his day, if we’ve spent 60 million for him to continue sitting on the bench and getting injured for whatever reason then we’re better off selling. If we keep him he needs to be utilised by Jose

Sell and get Grealish using the money! He's got potential but he's injury prone and lazy.. what's the point in having a talented player on the bench for most of the season? Grealish will bring the creativity we lack as of now ??♂️

Get Hojbjerg in and unleash Tanguy!
We need to protect our back line, but once a decent CDM is in place that'll reduce the responsibility on Ndombele and he can drive us forward. His dribbling, ball control and strength on the ball are great!— It all seems a bit trivial now (@MattyFrench82) July 31, 2020

There’s no doubt in my mind he’s got the attributes to be a real star. Can see and then play a pass, gets into goal scoring positions and can then finish and is also physically strong on the ball in the centre of the park. Given more of a chance he can shine

If we can give Lamela *checks calendar* seven years to figure out the Premier League, we should probably give Ndombele a second season.

Remember Mousa Dembele? The guy that Tanguy Ndombele was brought in to replace?
Remember how it wasn’t until his FOURTH season at Spurs that he started to fulfill his potential, when he was 28 years old?
Yeah.

Late night thoughts about how Pochettino said Ndombele needs 18 months to adjust to the Prem, and the end of those 18 months will come next season. We’ve got a generational midfielder on our hands and he’s coming to fruition very soon.

Gotta give Ndombele one more season. We've seen how good he can be. Can't help but feel it would be a big mistake

Spurs Web Opinion
Football fans, for the most part, tend to judge a player based on his quality on the ball rather than his attributes off it. While Ndombele certainly has a silky technique and appears press resistant, he is nowhere near good enough in closing spaces down. Given that Jose is trying to build a team that is effective in transitions rather than a possession-based side, I can understand why he does not want a passenger like Ndombele in the middle of the park. The Frenchman is not a good fit for the style of football Jose wants to play and so I would prefer us to cash in on him.
