Some Tottenham fans on social media are disappointed that the club have allowed Paulo Gazzaniga to leave on loan after it was confirmed on deadline day that the goalkeeper will be spending the rest of the campaign at La Liga club, Elche.
Gazzaniga has proven to be an able deputy for Hugo Lloris over the last two years and, barring one or two mistakes, the Argentine was a safe pair of hands.
However, the former Southampton man fell down the pecking order at Spurs this season after the arrival of Joe Hart, who now seems to be Jose Mourinho’s preferred understudy to Lloris.
Hart has been guilty of a few errors since arriving at Tottenham and it does not seem as though some Spurs fans are convinced that the England international is an upgrade over Gazzaniga.
Some fans admitted on social media that they would have preferred for the club to hang on to Gazzaniga over Hart.
I am absolutely shocked and gutted. I thought Paulo was amazing when deputising for Hugo. I don't understand why he suddenly slipped down the pecking order. Didn't make sense to me. Great player, genuinely passionate about the club. Hope all goes well for him

Let us hope he comes back to THFC. A much safer pair of hands than the No.2 and wish him well. https://t.co/ivynU9qUjR

Spurs Web Opinion
Hart was brought in more for his leadership qualities and his influence in the dressing room rather than his abilities on the field.
However, for a player like Hart to make the expected impact off the field, he has to feel like he is part of the squad, which is why Mourinho was always going to use him as his second choice keeper above Gazzaniga. Only time will tell if it proves to be the right call.
