Some Spurs fans disagree over club’s rumoured pursuit of 28-year-old

Some Spurs fans on social media are divided over rumours linking Tottenham with a move for West Brom goalkeeper Sam Johnstone in the summer.

Lloris is about to enter into the final year of his contract with the North Londoners and even though Jose Mourinho has backed the Frenchman to stay, reports indicate that the 34-year-old could return to Ligue 1 this summer.

Johnstone, who has impressed in his first taste of Premier League football this season, is rumoured to be one of the shot-stoppers on Spurs’ radar in the summer.

It has been claimed that the 28-year-old could be available for around £7.5m if the Baggies go down this season.

Some Spurs fans believe that the former Man Utd academy graduate would be a smart signing for the reported price.

However, others have opined that the West Brom number one is not of the level that the club need and that there are more suitable options out there.

Even though I expect Lloris to stay next season, I would expect the club to start looking for a potential long-term replacement for the Frenchman. While the jury is still out on whether Johnstone is good enough to be Lloris’ successor, he would be an upgrade on Hart and signing him for less than £10m would represent a good piece of business for the club.
