Some Spurs fans on social media are divided over whether a move for Valencia midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia would be a good one for Tottenham.
Sky Sports reported on Saturday that Jose Mourinho is keen to bring Kondogbia to North London in the summer as he attempts to strengthen the squad ahead of next season.
The report alleges that Spurs chief scout, Steve Hitchin, is a long-term admirer of the hard-tackling midfielder and has been watching him since 2017 as a potential replacement for Moussa Dembele.
It is suggested that the club view the 27-year-old as the ideal player to slot in at defensive midfield.
Mourinho has, so far, employed the likes of Eric Dier, Harry Winks, Oliver Skipp, Gedson Fernandes and even Giovani Lo Celso as midfield pivots with mixed success this season.
While some Spurs fans believed that Kondogbia could be the final piece of Tottenham’s midfield jigsaw, others thought that it would be wiser to prioritise defensive additions.
Why buy a 27yo cdm when there’s many younger options

Would love for the kondogbia rumours to be true, would change the team massively

Kondogbia and the Ajax keeper would be two players I would like to see at Spurs in the near future. We miss that power and muscle in the centre of the park and Lloris has too many clangers in him (hurts to say this)

Why can’t we find the next Kondogbia instead of paying over the odds for someone who will be decent for 2 seasons!

Bring me Kondogbia

Spurs are desperate for someone to just sit in midfield, collect the ball and break down attacks, then distribute it 5-10 yards to a more creative player. My first choices (realistically for Spurs) in this role are Rice, Matic, Kondogbia, Doucouré, Barrios, Matuidi. https://t.co/9QlwkaO9VY

Kondogbia looks like exactly what we need at spurs.

Spurs Web Opinion
Like many others, I too believed Kondogbia would have been an ideal signing a couple of seasons ago. His form has levelled off a bit in the last couple of seasons but if Jose believes that he is the right man for us, then the club should do everything in their power to get him.
