Some Spurs fans fume as star is called away from training camp

Son Heung-Min has had an absolutely grueling schedule for the past year. After finishing last season with Spurs, the attacker was one among many players to take part in the World Cup last summer, thus missing the opportunity to have a full preseason with the club.

Since then apart from the games he has been involved with Tottenham, the forward has played in both the Asian Games (where South Korea went all the way in the tournament) as well as the Asia Cup held in Quater earlier in the year.

After returning from the Asia Cup, the 26-year-old had to lead Tottenham’s attack in nearly every game during a busy period in the season, as both Harry Kane and Dele Alli were out with injuries.

Despite the heavy workload, the attacker has produced the goods this season, dragging the team over the line in many games where both Alli and Kane were missing. Tottenham now have a two week break now and the squad will use the opportunity to go to a training camp in Barcelona.

However, Son will once again not be available during the period and will instead travel halfway around the world as South Korea have called up their star player for home friendlies against Bolivia and Colombia on March 22nd and 26th respectively.

Tottenham fans weren’t best pleased with the news with many questioning why Son wasn’t allowed to miss the meaningless friendlies given the club had allowed him to travel to two international tournaments midway in the season.

Here’s how some Spurs fans reacted to the news of Son’s call up:
