Some Spurs fans hope Euros upset could open door for Pochettino return

Some Spurs fans on social media are hoping that France’s elimination from the European Championships could potentially open the door for Mauricio Pochettino to return to Tottenham.

A fairytale reunion between Pochettino and Spurs looked like a real possibility last month, with reports indicating at the time that the Argentine was keen on a return to North London.

However, Paris Saint-Germain dug theirs heals in, thus forcing Tottenham to move on to other candidates.

Some sources have suggested over recent days that Spurs could yet have some hope of bringing the 49-year-old back to the club if PSG manage to persuade France boss Didier Deschamps or former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane to take over.

Some Tottenham fans are hopeful that France’s shocking defeat in the round of 16 stage at the hands of Switzerland might lead to Les Blues replacing Deschamps with Zidane, thus potentially opening the door for the former Marseille boss to take over at PSG and for Pochettino to return to Spurs.

Here’s how they reacted as France were beaten by the Swiss in a penalty shootout on Monday:

Spurs fans who still retain hope of a potential Pochettino return are only setting themselves up for disappointment. In fact, France’s defeat could just as easily make a Pochettino return to Tottenham less likely as it might cause PSG to rethink if Deschamps is the right man for the job.
