Tottenham were held to a 2-2 draw by Olympiacos in their Champions League opener at the Karaiskakis Stadium yesterday evening.
A draw was nothing more than what the Greek side deserved for putting in a spirited display. Tottenham struggled to get hold of the ball in the first half and the hosts would have taken the lead if not for some poor finishing.
Tottenham raced into a two-goal completely against the run of play, courtesy of a Harry Kane spot-kick and a powerful strike from Lucas Moura.
Even when they were 2-0 up, Mauricio Pochettino’s men didn’t look convincing at all with the likes of Christian Eriksen and Tanguy Ndombele repeatedly giving the ball away with sloppy passes.
The hosts got one back just before half time and completed their comeback from the penalty spot when Jan Vertonghen was adjudged to have fouled Mathieu Valbuena.
While Spurs finished the game strongly, some Tottenham fans were extremely angered by the performance of one man in particular – Christian Eriksen.
Some fans alleged that Dane’s performance was proof that he didn’t really want to be at Tottenham.

We have seen performances like this far too often from Christian Eriksen over the last few years. While his quality can certainly make a difference in the final third, his concentration levels really has to improve. He was quite lucky that Tottenham were not punished on a couple of occasions when he gave the ball away in midfield.
