There were so many shocks for Tottenham Hotspur last season, from new stadium delays to not signing a single new player across the entire campaign.
However, one of the biggest surprises in Spurs’ season came in the form of Fernando Llorente, and it will go down in the club’s history for years to come.
With Harry Kane and Dele Alli out injured, with Heung Min Son away on duty for South Korea, Spurs fans would have been left wondering who was going to score the goals.
However, former World Cup winner Fernando Llorente stepped up and delivered time and time again, most notably in the Champions League.
The Spaniard scored the third goal that killed off Borussia Dortmund. He scored the winner against Man City in the quarter-finals. And he flicked the ball on to Dele Alli who set up Lucas Moura’s 96th-minute winner in the semis against Ajax.
Iconic images. Iconic moments. But Spurs fans have now been forced to bid farewell as Llorente signs a two-year deal with Napoli (Sun).
Good luck, Fernando. #COYS pic.twitter.com/AoU4NBD9PX
