Some Spurs fans on social media have reacted extremely positively to reports that the club might look to pursue a deal for Diego Costa this summer.
Costa has fallen out of favour at the Wanda Metropolitano and was used sparingly by Diego Simeone last season.
The Daily Star claims that Atletico Madrid have offered Tottenham the chance to sign the 31-year-old as they wish to cash in on him this summer, with his contract running out in a years time.
Jose Mourinho has a history with Costa, having bought him to the Premier League during his second spell in charge of Chelsea.
Some Spurs fans were excited to hear about the possibility of Mourinho offering the centre-forward another chance to prove himself in English football.
Barring a few who felt that the 31-year-old was well past his best, many felt that the centre-forward was exactly the kind of player the club needs to bring in as a back-up to Harry Kane.
Good prem experience, experience playing in big games, winning mentality, good back up striker…..it’s a no brainier for me

If we could get Diego Costa on decent, he would be a quality back up striker.

Diego Costa to #THFC
He was on my top 5 list!
He is nice bloke off pitch, but a c*nt on the pitch, Mourinho loves that, he would be perfect Kane plan B!
Højbjerg, Hart, Doherty, Costa, + LB/CB/ATT MF, and we are much improved!
Mourinho is much better than Poch in transfers imo— David Williams (@DavidWilliamsDK) August 28, 2020
We don’t want Diego Costa. Past it these days. I’m all for a striker with miles on the clock but just not him.

Okay. So yesterday I said I wasn’t too keen on Suarez. But I’d rather him over Costa. Please not Diego Costa..

Spurs Web Opinion
Jose Mourinho clearly thinks very highly of Costa and, given that we are in the market for a back up to Kane, the links to the Atletico star certainly do not seem far fetched. While he does have the kind of confrontational and demanding personality that Mourinho might feel the squad needs more of, I just fear that he is a loose cannon and that signing him could end up backfiring on us.
