Tottenham’s Juan Foyth was always going to miss the first two games of the 2019/20 season after he picked up a red card against Bournemouth last year.
However, the Argentine has actually ended up missing the first eleven games in all competitions so far this campaign after picking up a nasty injury in pre-season.
Despite the fact that he hasn’t kicked a ball thus far for Spurs, Juan Foyth has not only been called up to the Argentina squad, but he is reportedly set to start tonight.
Argentina take on Germany in a friendly, which may raise a few eyebrows, as the last Spurs player to take part in an Argentina friendly (Lo Celso) picked up a long-term injury.
Foyth has been used at right-back of late for his national side, a position he may soon have to fill at Spurs due to the shortcomings of Walker-Peters, Aurier, Sanchez, and Sissoko in recent weeks.
Some Spurs fans have reacted to the news that Foyth may start tonight:
#SelecciónMayor Lionel Scaloni ?️: "Mañana vamos a jugar con Marchesín; Foyth, Otamendi, Rojo, Tagliafico; Paredes, Pereyra, De Paul; Correa, Dybala y Lautaro Martínez".

Familiar conundrum for Spurs. On the one hand, he badly needs competitive minutes. On the other hand, he’s just back from injury & it’s a risk for him to play in a meaningless friendly.

But if he’s fit isn’t it better he gets match fitness for Argentina rather than being thrown rusty into a Prem game.

What do we reckon, ankle ligaments? Calf strain? Tonsillitis?

Better only be 45 mins

Again. Letting a player go on international duty who’s just back from injury before playing for us . You know what’s coming ?

Foyth expected to injure himself again

You have got to be shitting me. We lost Lo Celso for three months or longer in a friendly where he was hacked multiple times. Foyth is only barely just fit enough to be back on our bench having been crocked in a friendly in the summer. Poch needs to get real.
