There was once a time when Marcus Edwards was the crown jewel in the Tottenham academy, but sadly that is no longer the case.
When it comes to stand-out forwards in the Spurs youth ranks at the minute, Troy Parrott seems head and shoulders above the rest, especially after his pre-season exploits.
The Irish teenager was awarded a hefty number of minutes out in Asia and did not look out of place alongside Harry Kane and Heung Min Son.
Japhet Tanganga also stood out as a class defender on the pre-season tour, with the likes of Oliver Skipp, Kyle Walker-Peters, Harvey White, George Marsh, Anthony Georgiou, Jack Roles, and more also featuring.
Football Insider have now claimed a source inside the club has told them that Edwards has expressed his desire to leave the club permanently this summer.
This comes after he was left out of the pre-season tour, implying that he is not in Pochettino’s plans for the 2019/20 season.
Some Spurs fans took to Twitter to react:
Truth is every club hes been loaned to talk about his poor attitude and arrogance. I’ve also heard he only prefers to play in his favourite role and does not like to be flexible. This is in contrast to nkoudou who gives it his all every time he comes on.

Well I think that certainly heaped undue pressure on him, just don’t compare someone to Messi especially a youngster
Is it correct that the book also mentions conversations with Walker that were supposed to be totally private?— Jamie Richards (@Jamie50R) August 19, 2019
He had some good moments, but even in the Dutch League he never found enough consistency. Had hoped he would be a star for us. Hope he can improve and become the baller Poch thought he could be. Sadly he just never built on the promise.

Could end up being one of the biggest regrets, it’s sad how he was never motivated enough though
