Tottenham Hotspur have fallen to their second successive defeat in a matter of three days, as Chelsea secured a 2-1 win at Stamford Bridge this afternoon.

This comes after the Lilywhites were outclassed and outscored by RB Leipzig at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Olivier Giroud opened the scoring against Spurs today, finishing nicely with his left foot in the first 15 minutes.

Marcos Alonso then hit a sweetly struck shot into the bottom corner at the start of the second half, making it 2-0 to the hosts.

Tottenham managed to luck their way to a goal with just minutes to go in the game, as a Lamela cross deflected into the Chelsea net.

However, Spurs lacked the firepower and creativity up front to nick a second before Michael Oliver blew his whistle for full-time.

It goes down as a wasted chance for Tottenham to break into the top four and raises more than a few questions about where Mourinho goes from here without Kane and Son.

Some Spurs fans reacted to the result on Twitter:
