Tottenham Hotspur struggled with injuries last season, particularly in the central midfield area, with the likes of Eric Dier, Victor Wanyama, Harry Winks, Moussa Sissoko, Dele Alli, Luke Amos, and more all suffering from problems at one time or another.
As a result, Spurs have added to their centre-mid ranks this summer by signing Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon for an initial fee of £53.8m (BBC).
This could not have come at a better time too, as Spurs have now announced that another first-team midfielder has picked up another injury.
Eric Dier suffered from illnesses and was forced to undergo surgery to remove his appendix last season (Guardian), and the England man is now out again.
Spurs announced via their website that Dier has undergone a medical procedure to correct an issue that was detected on pre-season training.
Dier is only expected to be out for a short period but will miss the pre-season tour around Asia later this month.
