Some Spurs fans react as Troy Parrott makes senior Republic of Ireland squad

Tottenham Hotspur youngster, Troy Parrott, has been named in the senior Republic of Ireland squad for the very first time in his short career.

The 17-year-old featured on the bench in the Premier League against Everton for Spurs last Sunday but was an unused substitute.

The only time Pochettino has actually given the young Irishman some game time on the pitch this season came in the 0-0 draw with Colchester in the Carabao Cup.

However, the teenager did travel with the first-team to Serbia this week as part of the Red Star Belgrade Champions League preparations, despite not featuring for either the U19 squad or the senior team.

Mick McCarthy, the Republic of Ireland manager, has now put faith in the youngster to make the step up on an international level, naming him in the squad that will take on New Zealand in the friendly and Denmark in a EURO 2020 qualifier this month.
