Some Spurs fans have been sent into absolute meltdown on Twitter as Gareth Bale has been officially announced as a Tottenham Hotspur player.

Spurs have revealed that the Welshman has joined from Real Madrid in a deal that will keep him at the club on loan for the 2020/21 season.

This transfer comes seven years after Bale first left North London in a then world-record move to Los Blancos.

In his six seasons in a Lilywhite shirt, Bale managed to clock up 203 appearances, scoring 55 goals in that time, including 26 in his final season alone (Wikipedia).

The winger kept that scintillating form up in sunny Spain, recording 105 goals in 251 games for Real Madrid. Of course, Bale also helped the club to four Champions League trophies during his time there.

However, the star’s agent, Jonathan Barnett revealed earlier in the week that Bale still adored Spurs and the time had come for him to desire a return (BBC).

Let’s take a look at how some Spurs fans reacted on Twitter:

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. Gaby Agbonlarhor has labelled this a panic buy (albeit that it is actually a loan Gaby!) but in a sense he’s right because 19 other premier teams are now going to be panicking when Gareth Bale plays!
