Some Spurs fans react to Davinson Sanchez’s clean sheet performance for Colombia

Tottenham Hotspur have struggled defensively at the start of this new season, already racking up losses to Bayern Munich, Brighton, Colchester, Newcastle, and Leicester in just eleven games.

However, the most disappointing thing is perhaps the way Spurs lost some of these games, capitulating after letting the first goal in.

Spurs were 1-0 up and playing well in the Champions League against Bayern, but their form seemed to nosedive after the Germans grabbed an equaliser against the run of play. The Lilywhites went on to lose 7-2.

Last weekend in the Premier League, Tottenham conceded inside three minutes against Brighton and failed to recover from the setback, losing 3-0.

Even in the games against Arsenal and Olympiacos, both away from home, Spurs took a 2-0 lead but failed to hold onto them, drawing both games 2-2.

After Davinson Sanchez kept a clean sheet in a 0-0 match against Chile for Colombia this week, some Spurs fans have called for him to start at club level.

Spurs Web Opinion:

It is fair to discount Sanchez’s performances at right-back as it simply is not his position. While the Colombian did look shaky in the opening three matches at centre-back, I would much rather see mistakes and growth from him and continue with Alderweireld and Vertonghen, two players who may not be at the club next season.
