Tottenham Hotspur came out of the blocks quickly against Wolves today in North London, perhaps taking advantage of their superior rest and preparation ahead of the match.
Wolves last played on Thursday night away against Espanyol in the Europa League, while Spurs had over a week’s break since their Premier League loss to Chelsea.
Spurs opened the scoring in the first 15 minutes when Dele Alli’s poor miss rebounded straight to Steven Bergwijn who happily tapped home.
The Lilywhites looked as if they could put the fatigued Wolves to the sword in the next five or ten minutes, but a lapse in concentration from Aurier, Dier, and Tanganga saw the visitors equalise via the simplest of tap ins.
After the second goal, Wolves grew into the game and Spurs struggled to find a way through midfield.
However, just before the break, Aurier carved a decent crossing opportunity, before cutting in on his left and curling the ball home to make it 2-1.
