Some Tottenham fans on social media were left dazzled by Luka Modric’s performance as Real Madrid overcome Liverpool 3-1 in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final.
It was during his time at Spurs that Modric shot into the limelight as he helped the club to qualify for the Champions League for the first time in 2010.
The Croat was arguably the best midfielder in the Premier League during the four years he spent in North London after arriving from Dinamo Zagreb in 2008.
Modric has certainly lived up to his potential since moving to Real Madrid, helping the Spanish giants to La Liga and Champions League titles, even winning the Ballon d’Or.
There were some rumours suggesting that the midfielder could return to Spurs in January but he ended up signing a contract extension with Madrid.
On the evidence of his performance against Liverpool, one can certainly see why Los Blancos decided to hang on to him as the former Spurs star effortlessly dominated the midfield battle alongside Tony Kross.
Some Spurs fans were astonished by how good Modric still is at 35 years of age and insisted that he would still be an outstanding player for the North Londoners.
Modric would still do such a job at Spurs 😍⚽️ #RMALFC
