It has now been over a week since Mauricio Pochettino was sacked by Daniel Levy and the Tottenham board. This came after the Argentine had spent five and a half years at the helm of the North London club.

When Poch arrived, Spurs were fighting in the Europa League, without even coming close to challenging for it. By the time he left, Tottenham had made their first-ever Champions League Final.

Despite not winning any trophies, that is some progress over just five years in charge.

Spurs quickly appointed Premier League veteran manager, Jose Mourinho, after the Poch sacking, which seems to have had an impact on the squad.

Spurs have now won their first two games under the Special One, including an away win over West Ham United, the club’s first away victory since January 2019.

Poch has now finally broken his silence over the sacking, and some Spurs fans have taken to Twitter to react.

Pochettino said (LMA via Mirror): “I would like to thank Joe Lewis and Daniel Levy for giving me the opportunity to be part of Tottenham Hotspur’s history.

“I would like to thank also everyone I met at Tottenham, all the club staff and the football players during these five and a half years.

“Finally I would like to give a special mention to the fans who make this club so great with their fantastic support.

“I gave the best of me to accomplish the objectives I was asked for in our first meeting. There were equally tough challenges as exciting success.

“Best wishes for the future, I am sure we will cross paths again.”
