Kane ruptured the tendon in his left hamstring back at the start of the month, before undergoing surgery to correct it, yet Spurs have still not signed a replacement.

With Fernando Llorente being released in the summer and Vincent Janssen being sold, Spurs were left with Kane as the only senior natural striker.

Lucas Moura has largely been filling the role for Mourinho, but the Brazilian looks far from comfortable out of position up top.

Many Spurs fans would have been hoping for a new centre-forward to come into the club at some point during January, but one report has now thrown question marks over this.

The Athletic claim that Spurs now see a new striker as a bonus rather than a necessity this window, despite the lack of options.

  1. But Liverpool’s first choice front 3 does not contain a recognised striker. Both Mane and Salah are wingers. Great wingers with a great scoring record, but still wingers. Firminio is a converted midfielder and doesn’t play as an out an out striker.. He plays more of a Deli Ali type role and Son & Mane are similar to our Son and Lucas, albeit arguably at a higher level.
