Some Tottenham fans on social media have urged the club to try and snap up Donny van de Beek in January after reports emerged that Jose Mourinho was confident of bringing the Dutchman to Spurs in January.
Van de Beek has struggled to force himself into the Manchester United starting eleven since arriving at Old Trafford last summer.
It was reported last year that Tottenham tried to hijack United’s deal for the 24-year-old but the North London club failed in their pursuit.
While covering Van de Beek’s struggles at United, The Athletic revealed this week that Mourinho was ‘excited’ about the prospect of bringing the Ajax academy product to Tottenham.
The report revealed that Spurs eventually admitted defeat in their pursuit of the Netherlands international as they were not able to sell Tanguy Ndombele to fund a move for the midfielder.
Some Spurs fans on social media have called for the club to put in an offer for Van de Beek in January while others questioned why Daniel Levy did not fund a move for him last summer.

“Club could not fund a deal.”
Yep, years of record profits can only go towards (in no particular order): Acquiring new football teams, NFL, new climbing centers, new golf courses, and new galleries.
Actual footballers for the club ENIC have owned for 21 yrs is not an option 👍 https://t.co/4n0LlQVtmR

How about signing him anyway? Those owners can’t back any manager.

Spurs Web Opinion
I am not convinced that Van de Beek’s game is suited to the Premier League. Besides, with Alli, Ndombele and Lo Celso also seemingly fighting for the number ten role at Spurs under Nuno, it would not make much sense for the club to pursue the Dutchman in January.
