Some Spurs fans are split on whether it would be a good idea to allow Dele Alli to join Real Madrid on loan if that were to enable Gareth Bale to return to North London.
News about a possible return for the Welshman has slowly been gathering pace over the course of the day.
ESPN first reported that the North Londoners had moved ahead of Manchester United in the race for the 31-year-old before Football.London’s Alasdair Gold confirmed that the club’s interest in the Real Madrid man was genuine.
If that was not enough to get some Spurs fans excited, Fabrizio Romano and David Ornstein then revealed in quick succession that the club was working on a deal to re-sign Bale.
Since then, it has been reported by The Telegraph that one of the options on the table is a possible swap deal that would see Alli going to the Spanish giants either on a loan deal or a permanent transfer.
This has caused concern among a section of Spurs fans who believe the club will be making a huge mistake by letting the England midfielder leave in exchange for Bale.
However, others were much more enthusiastic about the idea and suggested that the swap deal would improve the side.
🤬 We thought the whole part of a transfer window was to strengthen your squad NOT actually weaken it!
❌ As much as we want Gareth Bale to come back to the club this summer window, Dele Alli should NOT be the player that has to sacrificed in order to try and get this the line.

Makes no sense, an old player for a young player is odd even though it would be good in the short term

Was fully-#COYS for Bale until this whole Dele swap became a thing. Even if that helps Reguilon happen and it’s just a loan, I feel really uncomfortable about it. Doesn’t sit right. Feels like a bad deal in exchange for a loan and a player with a buy-back clause. Not very Levy…

i desperately want bale back at the club but there’s no way we should include dele in any deal
alli is SEVEN years younger than bale, still has so much potential, immensely talented, and is our team’s biggest scapegoat, plus we don’t even know if bale would perform at spurs

Classic Mourinho short termism if we swap the promise of Dele for the slightly worn jaded Bale
Massive no from me

If you think Dele for Bale is good then you’re probably a bit weird.

Who wouldn’t sell Dele to get Bale? 🤦♂️

I’d definitely do a loan swap Dele/Bale. Permanent we’d need cash Dele is 24 🤔

For those moaning about Dele for bale swap….we need trophies now not when dele decides to grow up and stop sulking

Spurs Web Opinion
While I can see why a potential loan deal taking Dele to Madrid would make sense, I do not see it happening this summer. I believe the England midfielder is a part of Jose’s plans and the club still value him pretty highly. Allow the former MK Dons man to join Madrid in exchange for an injury-prone 31-year-old is not a deal Daniel Levy is likely to be enthusiastic about.
Have something to tell us about this article?
I am 100% against losing Dele irrespective of a deal for Gareth Bale
