Tottenham Hotspur fans would have been hoping for a swift start to the season after the club invested considerably into the squad over the course of the summer.
However, all didn’t go according to plan last week when the Lilywhites fell to a shock 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
To make matter worse, there are rumours doing the rounds that all is not well at the club behind the scenes (The Mirror).
talkSPORT reported two days ago that Mauricio Pochettino is set to walk away club with the North London derby supposedly set to be his final game in charge.
This sent some Spurs fans into panic mode but Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has now put helped put some of those fears to rest by insisting that there is no truth to the rumours.
Gold claimed that contrary to what’s been reported, the Argentine is happy at the club and excited to be cracking on with a new cycle.
Some Spurs fans on social media breathed a huge sigh of relief on reading Gold’s report:
I feel like I'm in an alternate reality. It's *insane* that you've had to clarify this (that's no criticism of you, and thanks for posting!).

Has no one considered the logistics around Pochettino walking away one year into a five year contract. Would cost Poch a fortune too. It’s all BS.

Pochettino is still the man to lead this club forward. I have no doubts about that. Massive few weeks ahead though. No mistaking that.pic.twitter.com/wPR0IymhsR

Spurs Web Opinion
This rumour always seemed extremely far fetched particularly considering that Tottenham got in all of Pochettino’s main targets this summer. A win in the North London Derby will completely change the mood around the club but another loss for Spurs could mean that the speculation will continue for the time being.
Have something to tell us about this article?
Pochettino has clearly run out of inspiration, and you’d think that it’s just a matter of time before he walks or is pushed. But given Levy’s legendary meanness, it’s hard to imagine him willingly paying-up the remaining £25 million of Pochettino’s contract, or Pochettino giving-up that sort of money on some sort of principle (like not being able to do the job anymore), so it might be quite a protracted and messy departure. Whatever happens, it’ll be the fans who suffer, as usual.
