Tottenham Hotspur announced this morning that they have reached a deal with Wembley to play their home matches there indefinitely until the new stadium is completed.
Spurs have been playing at the national stadium for well over a year now and have found a home away from home there, but it’s never quite going to be the same.
The club are essentially playing every match away from home at the moment, and the sooner that ends and the new stadium is ready, the better.
Tottenham announced they would update fans on the new ground come early December.
This new contingency deal with Wembley does allow Spurs to play their games there, but at an extremely reduced capacity of 51,000.
An application to the council could have this increased to match the new stadium at 62,000 with a small number of 90,000 exceptions for big games.
Some Spurs fans took to twitter to react to the latest news.
I open these stadium update links with more caution than letters from HMRC these days

Supported Spurs for over 50 years. This is an utter embarrassment for a once proud club. The mismanagement of the project by Daniel Levy and the club's advisors require sanctions. You are lucky not to have penalties by the Premier League.

The complete lack of respect Daniel levy has shown fans is embarrassing, to have charged such a outrageous price for season tickets knowing the stadium wont be ready is disgusting, be honest for once and show fans that you actually care , refund the season tickets

Open White Hart Lane. There’s a pitch and seats. Ffs.

We knew in May 2016 that the club had agreed a two year deal at Wembley.
Can you not just admit that we are there until July 2019? Then everyone can get on with it, the club can prepare the transport infrastructures and the players can then have a few friendlies to bed in.— stu rice & peas (@inremotepart) 11 November 2018
This isn't even news. Everybody bar the thick knew we only had a limited number of 90k games before having to go to council just like last season.

So confirmed dead atmosphere for the rest of the season ?

Just be honest and say we will finish the season at Wembley. Pay the fans back every penny you took under false pretences and get your house in order.
