Although Tottenham did brilliantly to get to the final of the Champions League last season, it will take a while for everybody associated with the club to recover completely from the heartbreak of losing the final.
What made matters worse was the fact that Spurs went a goal down so early into the game after a controversial penalty call.
Liverpool were there for the taking that night but Mauricio Pochettino’s men failed to grab the game by the scruff of the neck.
While Spurs take on Olympiacos in their first game of the new Champions League campaign this evening, reigning champions, Liverpool started their title defence with a 2-0 defeat in Napoli last night.
Fernando Llorente, who joined the Serie A side this summer after his contract with Tottenham expired, warned the Reds before the match that he was out for revenge for the Champions League final defeat (Football Italia).
The Spaniard got his payback today as he swooped in to score Napoli’s second goal to put the game beyond Jurgen Klopp’s men
Some Spurs fans on social media absolutely loved watching the 34-year-old help condemn Liverpool to their first defeat of the season.
Agent Llorente inflicting a first defeat of the season to Liverpool I’m hearing? My tree. Forever a Spurs legend.

Don’t cry over an unfair pen until it ruins the biggest game in your club’s history x

Spurs Web Opinion
Llorente was a model professional during his time at Tottenham. He did his part whenever called upon and never complained when left out. His contribution in getting Spurs to the final will always be remembered fondly by Spurs fans. I am delighted for Fernando that the move to Napoli seems to be working out well for him so far.
