Some Spurs fans single out player for praise despite 2-1 loss to Mura

Some Tottenham fans on social media have claimed that Oliver Skipp is the only Spurs player to deserve praise for his efforts in the 2-1 loss to NS Mura on Thursday.

Antonio Conte rotated his squad for the clash in Slovenia, with Harry Kane and Japhet Tanganga being the only players who kept their places in the starting eleven from the 2-1 win over Leeds.

Skipp also came into the team to partner Tanguy Ndombele in midfield after missing the clash against Leeds due to a suspension.

Tottenham struggled to impose themselves on the game right from the off and, after conceding the first goal, they gave themselves a mountain to climb when Ryan Sessegnon was sent off just past the 30-minute mark.

The away side managed to get an equaliser through Kane in the second half but Mura found a stoppage-time winner when they hit Spurs on the counter-attack as the North Londoners pushed bodies up the field looking for a winner.

Several Tottenham players have come in for scathing criticism for their lack of desire on Thursday.

However, some Spurs fans on social media felt that Skipp should be exempt from criticism as the 21-year-old tried his hardest.

Spurs Web Opinion

I did not think Skipp had the best of games on Thursday but compared to the rest of the side, the 21-year-old certainly looked much more committed.

The youngster seems to have won Conte over, not just because of his ability but also due to his attitude. He is only going to get better with more matches under his belt.
