Some Spurs fans slam defender for post on social media

It feels like a while since Tottenham went on a run of winning match after match.

Their only three wins so far this season have been interrupted frequently with draws and defeats, and their form has only worsened as the season as gone on.

So many Spurs players are probably relieved that the international break is here to give them an opportunity to take their minds off the crisis at Tottenham for a couple of weeks.

Tottenham’s Belgian contingent were all smiles in their training session on Tuesday, with Spurs defender Toby Alderweireld putting up a post on Twitter that was perceived as a dig on the club by some Spurs fans on social media.

The 30-year-old who was part of the winning side in training posted a picture with the team along with a caption ‘This can mean only one thing #WinningTeam’ which was accompanied by an eye and laughing face emoji.

Some Spurs fans reacted angrily to the Belgian’s message and suggested that his poor performances were partly to blame for Tottenham finding it difficult to win off late.

Toby probably didn’t mean to poke fun at the situation at Spurs but even if he did, it was just a light-hearted joke. Some Spurs fans are clearly getting too touchy and who can blame them given how poor we have been recently. Hopefully, the international break will help the players return to winning ways before coming back to the club.
