Let me take you back to May of this year. Tottenham were preparing for the Champions League final on June 1st. Spurs fans were buzzing with excitement.
The reports came through that the Lilywhites had bid £53m for a certain Giovani Lo Celso from Real Betis (BBC). I have to admit, I hadn’t even heard of the bloke.
Betis turned the offer down as the player had an enormous buyout clause of £88m. I never thought that on August 7, Tottenham would still be battling to sign the Argentine.
However, it appears as if the battle is finally over, as the BBC claim that Spurs and Real Betis have come to an agreement.
The fee is said to be around £60m, with the player set to sign for the club before the transfer deadline of 5 pm tomorrow.
Some Spurs fans now believe that Lo Celso will be flying into London this evening, with one even believing that he has spotted the private jet in question.
