Some Spurs fans want Mourinho to start 23-year-old against Man City after international display

Some Tottenham fans would like to see Joe Rodon thrown in at the deep end against Man City on the back of his impressive performances for Wales over the international break.

The former Swansea man has not had a look in since coming on for the final few minutes at Turf Moor to help Spurs see out their lead against Burnley last month.

The fact that he was not been registered in time for the Europa League group stages has not helped his prospects for game time but the defender has seemingly moved ahead of Davinson Sanchez in the pecking order, being named on the bench ahead of the Colombian.

While Sanchez’s Colombia were thrashed by both Uruguay and Ecuador during the international break, Rodon helped Wales to register two clean sheets as they beat both the Republic of Ireland and Finland in the Nations League, conceding only one goal.

Some Spurs fans on social media want Jose Mourinho to be bold and give the 23-year-old a start against City this Saturday:

There is no chance that Mourinho would risk starting Rodon against Manchester City. He will likely be eased in over the Christmas period when we will have games coming up thick and fast. With Tanganga now back available, I would not be surprised if Jose names Davies and Tanganga on the bench over Rodon, due to their ability to cover for multiple positions.
