Tottenham Hotspur are now just a handful of days away from the start of their 2019/20 Premier League campaign, with Aston Villa waiting on Saturday.
Spurs may have enjoyed a largely successful pre-season campaign over the past month, but it, unfortunately, ended in defeat today at the hands of Inter Milan.
Tottenham opened the scoring within the first ten minutes as Danny Rose released Erik Lamela, who carried the ball from the halfway line to the edge of the box before sliding in Lucas Moura.
The Brazilian then did what he does best, firing the ball past the keeper and into the top corner to put his side 1-0 up.
Unfortunately, Spurs failed to see the game out, with the 90 minutes ending at 1-1, sending the game straight to penalties.
Christian Eriksen stepped up and missed yet again, with Gazzaniga saving his blushes by stopping Inter’s first attempt too.
However, an Oliver Skipp miss turned out to be costly for the Lilywhites as they slumped to a 4-3 defeat in the shootout.
