Some Tottenham fans on social media were relieved to hear Alasdair Gold report today that Jose Mourinho may not be at Spurs next season irrespective of what happens in next Sunday’s Carabao Cup final.
Any lingering hopes that Tottenham had of making up lost ground on the top four spots now appears to be over after their 2-2 draw at Goodison Park yesterday.
Previous reports have indicated that Mourinho could be sacked if the Spurs miss out on Champions League qualification for a second consecutive season.
Gold claimed today that there is now an increasing belief around the club that the Portuguese coach will not be in charge next season, with Julian Nagelsmann and Brendan Rodgers both high on the club’s wishlist to replace the 58-year-old.
Some Spurs fans believe that the writing has been on the wall for Mourinho for quite some time, with a few even suggesting that he would have already been sacked if Tottenham had not made it into the Carabao Cup final.
Thank god. Finally they seem to be seeing what every fan and everyone in football can see. Just pull the trigger and lift the gloom

If Alasdair puts out an article suggesting Mourinho won’t be in charge next season then I think it’s pretty fair to say Mourinho won’t be in charge next season. https://t.co/VJhHr6QtQ2

Why wait? Ledley caretaker. Can't be any worse.
Levy has questions to answer this fanbase. Can't be trusted anymore. https://t.co/2RHm8Kxpih— gareth (@GarethSmith87) April 17, 2021

Daniel Levy being at Goodison yesterday told me everything I need to know because you rarely ever see him at away games https://t.co/JgDKS1lUei

Spurs Web Opinion
The results over the last few months have not left Levy with any choice but to sack Mourinho. However, I am concerned about how the likes of Kane and Son will react to such a decision. I am not sure they would be patient enough to stick around for another rebuild under someone like Nagelsmann.
