Some Tottenham fans react to the news that Dele Alli has been charged by the FA

Some Spurs fans have been left gutted by the news that Dele Alli could now face a ban after being charged by the Football Association for his controversial coronavirus video.

In the video, which Alli uploaded on social media a couple of weeks ago, the 23-year-old is seen wearing a face mask and appears to joke about contracting the coronavirus before panning the camera to a man of Asian appearance (Daily Star).

Dele later took the original video down and posted another on social media apologising for his action.

Sky Sports now report that the FA have charged the midfielder with misconduct for a breach of FA Rule E3 and that he will have until March 5 to respond to the charge.

With Harry Kane and Son Heung-min already out of action, some fans are panicking at the prospect of losing Alli as well. Others, however, felt that it would be unfair for the 23-year-old to be suspended.

Spurs Web Opinion

I think it would be harsh to suspend Dele for the comments since he clearly meant it as a private joke and also unequivocally apologised for his actions. However, he has no one else to blame as it is his own stupidity that has put him in this situation. The midfielder will hopefully learn from this and act more responsibly in the future.
