Some Tottenham fans take to Twitter to beg club to sign Wolves star

Tottenham Hotspur head into their crucial Champions League tie against Ajax with a severe lack of first-team central midfielders.

Moussa Sissoko is a major doubt after sustaining an injury against Man City in the last round, and Harry Winks is also struggling with a knock of his own (Football London).

These two have been Tottenham’s first choice pairing though this season, and have complemented each other remarkably well.

The only fit central midfielders currently in the first team squad are Eric Dier, Victor Wanyama, and Oliver Skipp, although none have been used anywhere near as much as Winks and Sissoko this season (Premier League).

These recent injuries have highlighted Tottenham’s growing need to replace the midfield star Moussa Dembele, a player they sold back in January.

Hoping that their club will end the transfer drought dating back to January 2018, some Spurs fans have taken to Twitter to voice who they believe the club should be investing in, Wolves’ Ruben Neves.

Neves set the Championship alight last season and has looked impressive in the Premier League too, most recently curling a beauty of a free-kick in against Arsenal this week.

However, The Daily Mirror claimed back last summer that Wolves would expect something in the region of £60m for their star man, a value that may even have gone up.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Ruben Neves would represent a real statement from Pochettino, Levy, and Tottenham this summer, if they saw fit to spend the huge money to get him in. That deep-lying central midfielder, capable of pulling the strings, passing, driving with the ball, and doing a job defensively is the exact set of skills Spurs need to replace Dembele and progress to the next level. My top picks to spend big money in this position would be Doucoure, Neves, or Ndombele.
