‘Something else’ – Fabrizio Romano makes claim on Kane and Conte’s relationship

Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the relationship between Antonio Conte and Harry Kane is more than special.

Kane was in stunning form yesterday when he was the focal point of Tottenham Hotspur’s 3-2 victory against Premier League champions Manchester City.

Conte set up his Tottenham side to look to catch City on the counter attack, with Kane dropping deep to look to use his impressive range of passing to release the likes of Heung-min Son and Dejan Kulusevski behind the home defenders.

Kane has spoken in glowing terms of his manager, claiming that the Italian has helped to change the mindset of a lot of players in the team (BBC).

The striker is also said to have been left impressed by how quickly his fitness levels have improved since Conte replaced Nuno Espírito Santo in November (The Athletic).

The Sun claimed earlier this week that Kane would seek assurances from the club that Conte would be backed in the summer transfer market before looking to commit his future to the north Londoners.

Kane has two years left on his current contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and was heavily linked with a move to Manchester City last summer (Manchester Evening News).

Conte and Kane both share a winning mentality and both will be looking to Daniel Levy this summer to finally overhaul the squad and begin the rebuild which Mauricio Pochettino warned was needed back in 2019.

Firstly, the club must look to qualify for the Champions League which begins with a trip to Burnley on Wednesday.  While beating City was enjoyable, it will have been without substance if we cannot continue in the same manner.
