‘Something fantastic’ – Spurs player flirts with idea of transfer to La Liga club

Lucas Moura has hinted that he would be open to the idea of moving to Sevilla during the January transfer window.

Moura has been out with a calf injury since August, and Antonio Conte admitted on Saturday that he is “really worried” about the winger’s situation since he is not recovering (BT Sport 1 – 01/10/22 – 12:15).

The winger’s current contract with Spurs runs out next summer but, according to reports, the North London club have the option to extend his deal by 12 months (Football.London).

However, reports from Brazil have indicated over recent weeks that the 30-year-old wishes to return to his boyhood club Sao Paulo next summer (UOL).

Moura also attracted interest from the Premier League this summer, with both Aston Villa (The Telegraph) and Newcastle United (Football Insider) thought to have made attempts to sign the former Paris Saint-Germain man towards the end of the transfer window.

The Tottenham man has now been asked about potential interest from Sevilla, and he certainly did not rule out a move to the Spanish club.

Moura told VamosMiSevilla: “I didn’t know about Sevilla’s interest, but it’s a club that I like and a city that they speak very highly of. Playing in La Liga would be something fantastic for me, because I like it a lot.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It is anybody’s guess where Moura will end up next summer but this will likely be his last season at Tottenham. If Spurs do take up the option to extend his contract, I suspect that would put him out of Sao Paulo’s reach, and would have to continue his career in Europe.
