‘Something they’ve really missed’ – Crouch hails Tottenham’s left-footer

Peter Crouch has admitted that Carlos Vinicius is exactly the kind of Harry Kane back up that Tottenham Hotspur have been crying out for after witnessing the Benfica loanee’s display in midweek.

Vinicius arrived at Spurs on a season-long loan deal just a matter of days before the European transfer window shut.

Although all of his starts for Tottenham have come in the Europa League, the Brazilian has shown glimpses of real quality already with his ability to hold up the ball and pin defenders back.

He opened his Spurs account with a well-taken brace in the 4-0 win over Ludogorets on Thursday night and was voted the Europa League Player of the Week for his all-round display.

The 25-year-old is yet to start a Premier League match for Spurs but he could well get his opportunity over the next month due to the club’s uncompromising schedule.

Speaking after Vinicius’ performance against Ludogorets, Crouch told BT Sport 2 at 9:55 am, 26 November: “I think Vinicius is a fantastic back-up to Kane.

“As long as they can keep him happy.

“I think it’s something they’ve really missed Tottenham a back-up striker.”
