‘Son for sure is struggling’ – Conte opens up on Heung-min Son’s poor form

Antonio Conte has admitted that Heung-min Son is struggling to find his best form in a Tottenham shirt this season, while also referencing the injury he picked up against Marseille.

The Spurs star fractured his eye socket and has been forced to play with a mask ever since, although he discarded it out of frustration part-way through the game against Aston Villa at the weekend.

Despite Son’s lack of form in front of goal and dip in quality on the ball this season, Conte seemed to hint that the South Korean will not be dropped any time soon.

With Richarlison, Kulusevski, and Lucas Moura all out injured at the moment, Harry Kane and Heung-min Son are the only senior forward options, with Bryan Gil getting his first start of the season against Villa.

Conte named Son, Kane and Lloris as his three most important players (Football London): “Son for sure is struggling to find the best form and after the injury he had against Marseille he struggle a bit.

“Also the World Cup he didn’t score but we are talking about a player that if we put him in discussion, we are in trouble because Sonny and Kane are the two most important players, with Lloris. If we have doubts about them, we are in trouble.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

Son is undroppable for Spurs at the moment. Even when out of form, he has the talent and track record to make things happen from nothing. The issue is that the rest of the team is also not playing very well, making it hard to carry his poor performances of late. Injuries also do not help at all.
