Son of former Spurs midfielder departs to join club managed by his father

Maximus Tainio has left Tottenham Hotspur and joined Finnish outfit FC Haka, who have been managed since 2018 by former Spurs midfielder Teemu Tainio.

Maximus arrived at Tottenham in the summer of 2017 from Finnish side HJK Juniorit. The young defender went on to have three years with the club’s academy set up.

The 19-year-old showed his versatility, just like his father was able during his playing days by operating in midfield as well as in the full-back position.

The teenager played fifteen times for Tottenham’s Under-18s and twice for the club’s Under-23s side this season (transfermarkt.com) and has represented Finland from Under-16 up to the Under-19 age grade.

The young defender has now decided to leave England move to FC Haka who are currently playing in the second division in Finland.

FC Haka confirmed the move on their official website last week.

Spurs Web Opinion

Despite Teemu Tainio only spending a brief time at Tottenham, his intelligence and tactical understanding always stood out, and it certainly isn’t surprising that he has gone into management. Maximus should get a lot more opportunities playing for FC Haka than he did during his time at Spurs.
