Tottenham Hotspur go into the break tonight at 1-1 after letting a one-goal lead slip yet again against Southampton in the FA Cup.
Spurs were 1-0 at St Mary’s last month in the first tie but conceded in the 87th minute to force a replay at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium tonight.
Tottenham went 1-0 up in the replay after Tanguy Ndombele’s wayward shot received a fortunate deflection on its way through, taking it past the keeper for the opener.
However, the Saints had been by far the better team from the off, passing rings around the Spurs midfield and defence.
15 minutes before the break, Hugo Lloris could only parry a relatively simple shot back out into the path of Shane Long, who gladly tapped home a goal that had been coming.
Spurs are without Erik Lamela and Giovani Lo Celso tonight and they are lacking the creativity going forward.
Some Tottenham fans reacted to the first half performance:
Lloris having a bad game.
Lucas + sonaldo out of form. (Wasting chances?counter attacking positions)
Sessegnon tanganga ndombele winks all good
Overall not deserving a win yet

Not funny

Someone needs to tell Son and Lucas that this is a team game. Both are so selfish that it’s no wonder the other players can’t be bothered making runs.

Never seen a team give the ball away so much. You would think we were trying to throw this but truth is we are just plain rank average. Hard and tough to watch.
