Manuel Neuer likes the idea of Bayern Munich signing Eric Dier but he insisted that the Bundesliga club’s final decision is not up to him.
It is clear that Dier is not in Ange Postecoglou’s plans and it now looks increasingly likely that the centre-back’s nine-and-a-half-year stay at Tottenham would come to an end this month.
The speculation linking the 29-year-old with a move to Bayern has intensified over the last couple of days, with Football Insider claiming on Sunday that the Bavarian club are set to launch an offer of £4.3m for the defender after agreeing personal terms with him.
The outlet added that Harry Kane has fully endorsed the move and that Thomas Tuchel has already spoken to the Tottenham man about the role he would have at the Allianz Arena.
Sky Deutschland also reported the same information as above but they added that Bayern are also exploring other centre-backs and are yet to make a final decision on who to pursue.
Manuel Neuer comments on Dier to Bayern links
Neuer has now commented on the transfer rumour, admitting that he likes the idea of signing the Spurs star, whom he has come up against both at club and international level.
When asked about the speculation about Dier, the Bayern legend told TZ (as relayed by Florian Plettenberg): “The name definitely sounds good, that’s for sure. The people in charge will explore the market, we are completely relaxed about it.”

Neuer is just being diplomatic about the rumour. I doubt he has a strong opinion either way about Dier. This transfer seems far from guaranteed at the moment as it appears as if Bayern have identified the Tottenham man as a backup option in case they are not able to get their top centre-back targets.
