Football pundit Mark Lawrenson has shared his prediction for the match between Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United this evening, and tips Spurs to surprise people.
Tottenham are coming off their most embarrassing performance of the season, after taking a 6-1 beating at the hands of Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon.
The result left Spurs with little hope of securing a place in the top four of the Premier League this season, and also cost Cristian Stellini his job as interim manager.
The Italian left the club on Monday, to be replaced by Ryan Mason, who will take up the role of Acting Head Coach until the end of the season.
Mason will be in the dugout for the visit of Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United this evening, with the Red Devils looking to strengthen their own position in the top four.
Manchester United go into the game having overcome a difficult battle with Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday in the FA Cup semi-final. Extra-time and penalties were needed to separate the two sides in a tight 0-0 encounter.
Looking ahead to the game, Lawrenson told Paddy Power: “Tottenham are just as liable now to go and win this after their 6-1 battering at Newcastle. That’s how mad they are.
“I’m going to tip them to win as well. Maybe Manchester United will be on a come down from winning the FA Cup semi final on Sunday? It sounds ridiculous but it would be just like Spurs to go and win, it really would.”

I get where Lawrenson is coming from, as we have been so unpredictable this season that we are prone to pull out a huge result when we least expect it.
We have the bounce of having Mason in charge, too, which might help, but I can’t see us doing any better than a draw tonight.
