South Korea star apologises for ‘verbal argument’ with Tottenham’s Heung-min Son

After reports emerged that Heung-min Son had dislocated his finger in a disagreement with some of his South Korea teammates earlier this week, his international colleague, Lee Kang-in has taken to social media to apologise.

Heung-min Son is finally back in action for Tottenham, after being away from the club throughout all of January and the first part of February. The Spurs skipper had been representing South Korea in the Asian Cup.

The 31-year-old had a huge impact for the Lilywhites last weekend, coming off the bench to deliver a perfect cross for Brennan Johnson to score an injury-time winner against Brighton.

It is hoped the Spurs star can now propel his side to a successful end to the season, having been unable to prevent South Korea crashing out of the Asian Cup in the semi-finals with a disappointing defeat to Jordan last week.

Lee Kang-in offers apology to Heung-min Son

Eagle-eyed Spurs fans spotted Son had sustained an injury to his finger, and a report from The Sun revealed this occurred as a result of an altercation between Son and some of his international teammates, who had opted to play ping pong instead of eating with the rest of the squad.

Now, Lee Kang-in has shared a message on Instagram explaining the situation and offering Son an apology for what happened.

His message reads: “There was an article reporting a verbal argument with Heung-min Son ahead of the Asian Cup semi-final. We have caused great disappointment to the soccer fans who always support our team. I’m really sorry.

“I should have taken the lead and followed what my brothers said, but I’m just sorry for showing soccer fans a bad image.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I don’t like the thought of Sonny being in an argument with anyone, not least of all his teammates. I think the whole situation will have really saddened Son and I hope it’s all water under the bridge now.
