Southampton manager praises on-loan Spurs man Kyle Walker-Peters after display

Southampton boss Ralph Hassenhuttl has revealed that Spurs loanee, Kyle Walker-Peters has improved over the past few weeks.

The right-back has struggled for game time with the Saints since his move to the South Coast on loan in January.

However, the 23-year-old played 45 minutes in Southampton’s 2-0 defeat to Arsenal on Thursday night.

Walker-Peters was brought on at half-time after only managing a total of 73 minutes on the pitch for the Saints before that point (Transfermarkt).

The Austrian coach insisted Walker-Peters is still a little rough around the edges but is on the right track to improving.

“He did a good job today in possession with good decisions. We can still improve this player but he was much better,” Hassenhuttl said in the post-match press conference via Football.London.

Walker-Peters will stay with Southampton on loan until the end of the season, but his long-term future is yet unknown amidst reports of a potential player swap deal.

Football Insider reported last month that Spurs may offer Walker-Peters in part exchange for Southampton midfielder, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
