Southampton post video mocking Antonio Conte after win over Tottenham

Southampton have posted an Instagram video mocking Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte for his reactions on the touchline during Wednesday night’s encounter.

Tottenham suffered a 3-2 defeat at home to the Saints in a hectic match which saw the hosts take the lead twice.

Spurs opened the scoring through a Jan Bednarek own goal before Chelsea loanee Armando Broja poked home an equaliser to send both sides level into half-time.

But tensions in both dugouts increased after Tottenham’s second goal, with the Southampton bench furious that a foul had not been called beforehand.

Prior to Heung-min Son’s strike, Broja was on the receiving end of a forceful mid-air challenge from Emerson Royal which left the Albanian in a heap on the pitch as Spurs took the lead.

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl and his team were unhappy with the goal standing which brought about an angry exchange with Conte who put his fingers to his lips to tell them to quieten down.

However, Southampton then hit back with two goals in three minutes to turn the match on its head and complete a late comeback to hand the Italian his first Premier League defeat at home as Spurs manager.

In celebration of their victory, the club uploaded a video with uplifting music playing alongside Conte’s animated reaction to his side taking the lead, before it turned slow and downbeat with a close-up of his unamused expression in the final stages of the defeat.

It was a bad evening all around for Tottenham and Conte, who really missed this opportunity to close the gap on the top four. It was a poor display from start to finish and the skirmish on the touchline has come back to bite the side considering the lead that was thrown away late in the match.
